Survey Set Up

1. Gather materials

   1. Scale

      

   2. Gloves

      

   3. Stiff board or bundle of cardboard for top of scale to make the base wider to keep floppy waste bags from touching the ground.

   

   

2. Plan for clear designated area to move waste after it is weighed

3. Designate area for scale to be set up, must be flat ground

4. Confirm you have the QR code to access the Survey Data Entry Tool

5. Make sure there are at least two people for the survey - even for a smaller building

6. Set up scale- make sure to set to pounds “lbs”:

   

7. Test scale by standing on it

   

8. Scan QR code to start Survey

   1. Aim to weight as many bags from one unique waste stream at a time
   2. When wood or bundle is used to weigh floppy bags, make sure to press “ZERO” to tare the scale.
   3. For any weights that have a .5, be sure to round up to the nearest whole number

   

   1. Press “SAVE” when switching to new waste stream

   2. Data is saved if you hit save, and the survey refreshes

      

   3. If you have to step away from the survey process, make sure to press “COMPLETE”

      

   4. Rescan QR code to continue weighing

   5. Be sure to reset and re-tare if the scale turns off

   6. Don’t forget to count number of bulk items
