Dear [building name],

We’re excited to announce that starting in October, NYC’s Department of Sanitation (DSNY) will begin collecting separated organic waste from our building as part of a new compost program!

Why is separating your organic waste important?

  1. It helps reduce the amount of trash sent to landfills, cutting down on harmful methane emissions. Did you know that organic waste makes up 30% of the residential waste stream?
  2. Organic waste can be turned into nutrient-rich compost and renewable energy, which supports greener spaces across the city.

Stay tuned–more information is coming your way soon, including tips on how to collect and store food scraps in your home, plus details on how the program will work in our building!

Thank you for helping us take this important step toward a more sustainable future.

Best,

Management Team
